Founded in 2002, in Atlanta, Emi and J.W. Lee opened their doors to the community hosting explosive flavors of Sushi and other Japanese style dishes. Later their concept evolved to include an introduction of both eastern and western styles of cooking. Expanding, in 2008, the company became known for great home-style American dishes, authentic international dishes, fresh salads, quick gourmet sandwiches and homemade pizzas. In 2014, an opportunity to reopen in Alpharetta, Georgia emerged. “We are excited to offer the city of Alpharetta and its’ surrounding cities flavors reminiscent of home”, says Emi Lee! We have a theme of Korean Style bowls, with a collection of cultural influences! The bowl, Modern American Cuisine, “Touching Lives Through Great Food”.

Chef Michael Holmes is trained in Classic French Cuisine

Chef Michael Holmes is trained in Classic French Cuisine. Michael studied at Stratford University in Virginia, right outside of Washington, DC. The protégé of Richard Beckle, head chef and friend, Michael was afforded the opportunity to work in some of the most popular fine dining restaurants in DC, early in his career. “Richie” taught Michael in the kitchens of The Caucus Room and Sam and Harry’s. Coupled with professional training and creativity, Michael developed a signature style of preparing high quality, well prepared dishes, that tantalize and please the palate. The Atlanta scene of culinary arts always attracted Michael. So when his wife Panya Rice Holmes suggested the move in 2007, he moved his family to Atlanta looking to build a new life. Upon arriving he learned of an opportunity to compete on a reality show with his wife, as his partner. The Chopping Block aired on primetime NBC for one season before being cancelled prematurely for ratings. 3.5 million viewers were not enough to compete with American Idol’s 30 million viewers, on the rival Fox networks. In 2008, Michael met Emi and J.W. Lee and since then, has felt like family. Michael worked as Executive Chef of the ParkSide Cafe for almost seven years. “I’ve never worked with such positive and good spirited people”, Michael boasts. In 2014, the team made a decision to venture out and share with the world the vision of, “touching lives through food”. Their plans were to share with the world great dishes, that represent what America stands for, a wonderful collection of cultural influences. The bowl, Modern American Cuisine, was born.
